Palmetto Greens is a great addition to the North end

I had the opportunity to play a course over the weekend that admittedly surprised me a little.  I had not played the new Palmetto Greens Golf Club.  Maybe it was the fact that I just have not really heard a lot about the new club or maybe it has just been the weather.  Either way I am extremely glad that I took the time to rediscover one of the more enjoyable courses along the north end of the Grand Strand.

 While you can definitely tell that there is a lot going on around the course with new development stakes throughout the property.  None come into play on what is a very enjoyable layout.  This is a shot-makers paradise.  The course is not overly long, but does require you to be accurate and creative when hitting your approach shots to the small greens.  The greens are L-3 bent grass and provide one of the best putting surfaces you will find.  These greens were true, held your approach shots and rolled at a very solid pace.  If you miss a putt on the greens at Palmetto Greens it is going to be because you mishit the putt or did not read the break, which is something that I did often during my round.  Coming out of the gate on #1 you will find a demanding tee shot on a par 5 that if you are able to keep your tee shot in play will find very accessible with a nice chance to start your round with a par or birdie.  You will finish your round with another solid par 5 that offers the opportunity to end your round with another good score.  In between you will find holes that will challenge you to hit every club in your bag. . 

 All in all Palmetto Greens is a very nice addition to the great courses in the North Myrtle Beach area.  The friendly staff, solid golf course and convenient location make this a course that I would recommend to golfers of any skill level
