Oyster Bay Golf Course
December 27, 2008
Wow, just realized it has been awhile since I have played. Some friends of mine (3 guys who are not my husband) asked me if I wanted to play golf this past Saturday. Since I knew our weather was going to be really nice and said , sure, where are you going to play? They responded, wherever you get us on! Such pals! Now, these guys do not play much and I knew I could out-play them, so I thought ok, you want me to pick a course, I picked Oyster Bay, one of my favorites. Oyster Bay is easiest one of the most scenic courses on the Grand Strand, without being too terribly hard, but as the name implies (Bay) there is a good bit of water. It turned out to be a great day and lots of fun. The course was in great shape and I actually was hitting the ball very well. On #13, which is a par 4 with the green very elevated and protected but huge bunkers all around the front and nothing but Bay behind, I actually got on the green in 2 and 2 putted for a par. Have never done that on that hole before. When we got to number 17, a very short par 3 island green, the first guy hit 4 tee shots in the water, the 2nd guy hit 2 tee shots in the water and then the 3rd guy hit one that went into the water. So, there we are 7 balls have been hit and not a single ball was on the green. I went to the ladies tee, pulled out my 8 iron and "Bam" on the green and 2 putt for a par. Wow, what a rush. We had a great time, and they told me they would play with me anytime I wanted to get them on a course. Such special guys they are. By the way, my husband screwed up his shoulder which is why he was not playing, but trust me it just about killed him not to be able to play with us. So, if you really want a nice course that is not too hard and very appealing, then I would most definitely recommend Oyster Bay. Average green fees are $70 to $135
