Bald Head Island Golf and Country Club
October 17, 2008
What a beautiful day! Drove up to Southport NC (about 50 to 60 min drive). Took a 30 minute ferry (no cars allowed on the island except emergency and construction vehicles, just golf carts). They pick you up in trams pulled by carts and drive you to the golf clubhouse. Then the fun part begins. Although you are on an island, you are playing through a Maritime forest and around freshwater lagoons. A couple of the finishing holes even afford you a view of the Atlantic Ocean. The area was left as natural as they could with houses along the fairways that you don't even notice as they are blended into the natural beauty of the island. After our round, which I played so so, we were treated to drinks and appetizers as it was a invitational outing in their beautiful clubhouse with a very nice bar. Once done we caught the ferry back to the mainland to head home. Although a long day, it is more than just golf. The private club is opened for limited package play and I am one of the few packagers that has the priviledge of booking golf at the facility. So, if you are looking for a unique experience, more than just a day of golf, give me a call and I can book your group. They even offer a all day deal where you can play as long as you like and receive a box lunch for a low price. Green fees average $65 to $125
