34 Grand Strand Courses Recognized by Golf World
Thirty-four Grand Strand courses were honored in the 2010 Golf World Readers� Choice Awards that recognized the best public, private and resort facilities in the country. The golf courses were recognized in three Top 50 categories, which featured the 50 top vote getters, and the Best-in-State category, which honored the courses that scored a minimum of 75 points. Caledonia Golf & Fish Club (No. 20) and True Blue Plantation (No. 26) were listed in the Top 50 Public Golf Facilities category while Dunes Golf and Beach Club (No. 42) was honored in the Top 50 Resorts category.
South Carolina led all states with 44 courses with 27 from the Myrtle Beach area. Seven additional courses, located in Brunswick County, N.C., were honored, and are considered a part of the Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch from Southport, N.C. to Georgetown, S.C. North Carolina was second with 41 courses with California third with 39.
The Myrtle Beach area Best-in-State courses included Arrowhead Country Club, Barefoot Resort & Golf, Glen Dornoch Waterway Golf Link, The Resort Course at Grande Dunes, Heather Glen Golf Links, Heritage Club, The International Golf Club of Myrtle Beach, The Legends Resort, Litchfield Country Club, The Long Bay Club, Man O�War Golf, Myrtle Beach National Golf Club, Myrtlewood Golf Club, Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club, Pine Lakes Country Club, River Club, River Hills Golf & Country Club, Tidewater Golf Club & Plantation, TPC Myrtle Beach, Wachesaw Plantation Club, Wild Wing Plantation, The Witch, The Wizard and World Tour Golf Links.
